Are you insane?
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.”
You’ve heard this quote a thousand times, but how many times have you applied it to your own life? When difficulty arises in your life it’s the perfect opportunity to learn your valuable lessons and grow forward.
Too often we notice how we keep getting caught in the same situations in life, but we don’t notice that our responses are the same as well.
As the saying goes, “if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.”
At least once a month my good friend calls me to complain about his job. He hates everything about his employment, and let him tell it, he’d be better off on his own. His coworkers don’t appreciate him, his superiors don’t acknowledge his hard work, and his innovative ideas are swept under the rug consistently. At the end of every call he concludes that it’s time for him to put in his notice and grind it out on his own business.
Have you felt the way my friend does? Do you feel like time is passing you by and you’re wasting it in unproductive situations that don’t truly stretch you?
Well, I’ll ask you the same thing I ask my guy whenever we speak.
What are you doing about it?
See, saying that you’re ready to change your life and get focused on your goals is one thing. Doing what you say you’ll do is another.
If you want to succeed as an entrepreneur, you have to work at it everyday. Going to a job you hate, hoping for the day when you’ll be “set” so you can make the leap is a pattern that will destroy your dreams. The same goes for health goals, relationship goals, and general life goals.
In order to have something new, you have to do something new.
Write down the things you want to change in your life. Now write out the reasons you want to change those things. Understanding the reasons will help you to remain aware when you want to slip back into a destructive pattern. Finally, write down some things you can do, big or small, to start creating the change you seek.
